(WESTBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) proudly joined the Westbury Fire Department at Westbury Manor on Saturday, March 8 for their annual installation dinner. Legislator Nicks, who has been a volunteer firefighter in Uniondale for more than 14 years, joined the community in congratulating incoming Chief Tim Stewart on his new role leading the department, thanking outgoing Chief LaShaun Carr for his dedicated service to the residents of Westbury, and celebrating 50-year member Ricky Zaino for his golden anniversary of continuous service.
“In communities across Nassau County, men and women from all walks of life bravely step forward and join their local fire departments – sustaining a proud and vital tradition of volunteerism that plays a vital role in keeping us all safe,” Legislator Nicks said. “It was a pleasure to join the Westbury community in celebrating the accomplishments of the selfless and courageous first responders that rush toward danger at a moment’s notice to help others.”
