(NORTH BELLMORE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) joined the North Bellmore community and his colleagues in government on Wednesday, April 30 to celebrate the North Bellmore Public Library’s certification as a Sustainable Library — the first in Nassau County to earn this distinction. During the last two years, the Library has implemented sustainability initiatives that have resulted in increases in plastic recycling, the planting of native species, reductions in light pollution, and more.
“Nassau County’s libraries are hubs of knowledge and beacons of innovation – and the North Bellmore Public Library has put that philosophy into action by securing this designation,” Legislator Koslow said. “I applaud the entire team for setting a new standard in sustainability in Nassau County, and I hope that their success inspires others to join in their embrace of environmentally friendly practices that benefit us all.”
